Weekly Mortgage News - Bad News Is Good News

Well it is at least for mortgage rates.  Friday’s payroll number was well short of expectations with only 115K jobs added in the month of April vs. an expected 170K. The unemployment rate dropped though this again was attributed to people stopping to look for work. On top of the weak US economic data more of it from around the word put a damper on the markets. Single-family home sales in Newburyport, Massachusetts increased in Q1 2012 as the median price of homes decreased. Weekly Mortgage News - What a Difference a Month Makes

Just a month ago the Federal Reserve Board statement caused a significant jump in rates. It actually took rates more than a month to get back to previous levels. Beverly Homeless Shelter Closes Emergency Housing During Restructure

The Beverly Citizen recently reported that Beverly’s River House, a mainstay for homeless adults, is in need of restructuring in order to remain effective in its mission. The River House will be closing their emergency housing program on April 30th while the new board of directors works to alter and improve the River House business model.
